Special Offers Announced to Celebrate 29th Anniversary of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Date:

To commemorate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on July 1, the Hong Kong Government, in collaboration with various community sectors, has unveiled a comprehensive array of special offers and activities. The initiatives span public transport, cultural institutions, dining, and retail, aiming to share the festive spirit with residents and visitors alike.

Public transport passengers will be among the primary beneficiaries of the celebrations. From July 1 to 3, all passenger tram routes will offer free rides. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) will conduct a lucky draw on July 1 to distribute 71,000 domestic single ride tickets. Additionally, special Airport Express offers will be available for holders of Child, Student, Personalised Octopus, and JoyYou Cards. Several ferry routes will also provide complimentary rides on July 1, with advance voucher distributions planned to facilitate access.

In the cultural and leisure sectors, the public will enjoy free admission to numerous fee-charging facilities managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, as well as the Hong Kong Wetland Park under the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, on July 1. Museum-goers can access designated exhibitions at M+ and all thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District without charge on the anniversary day. Furthermore, the 14 projects under the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme will extend free guided tours, alongside special dining, consumption, and accommodation packages from mid-June to early July.

The dining and retail landscape will also see significant promotions. Initially, over 1,000 restaurants and merchants are slated to roll out special dining offers on July 1. Public markets managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will introduce their own promotions. Shoppers can enjoy a 29 percent discount on selected products through designated online stores, mobile applications, or physical outlets from July 1 to 7. In support of environmental sustainability, the Environmental Protection Department will award double GREEN$ Points to individuals utilising its community recycling network during the period.

Recreational and tourism landmarks will participate actively. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will host the Hong Kong Reunification Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on July 1, granting free entry to the Public Enclosures of both Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses. Iconic attractions including the Peak Tram, Ngong Ping 360, Ocean Park Hong Kong, and Tai Kwun will provide exclusive ticket concessions. Major hubs such as Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong Science Park, and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, along with various shopping malls, will roll out targeted dining, retail, and parking incentives. The Hong Kong Tourism Board is also coordinating with industry partners to curate additional travel, shopping, and entertainment deals.

The Government has expressed gratitude to the participating sectors for their proactive response in launching these initiatives. Comprehensive details regarding the special offers and activities will be made available on a dedicated anniversary website, with relevant departments and organisations scheduled to announce specific operational details in due course.
