The BMW M2 equipped with the M Performance Track Kit has set a notarized lap record on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, BMW M GmbH confirmed Monday.
The record run, conducted on May 22, 2026, was officially verified by TÜV Rheinland and took place under demanding conditions. According to a press release from the BMW Group, high ambient and asphalt temperatures combined with oil residue in the T13 section of the track added to the challenge.
The M Performance Track Kit developed by BMW M includes race-derived components that enhance the compact performance coupe's track capability while maintaining road legality. BMW M says the package was engineered to extract maximum performance from the M2's chassis and powertrain without compromising everyday usability.
The record marks a significant achievement for the entry-level M car, demonstrating that the M2 can achieve benchmark-setting performance on the world's most demanding racetrack. BMW M GmbH has been progressively expanding the M Performance accessory lineup, offering factory-backed performance upgrades that preserve warranty coverage.
The BMW M2 currently produces up to 460 hp from its twin-turbo inline-six engine in standard form. The M Performance Track Kit adds optimized suspension components, lightweight wheels, and aerodynamic enhancements developed through motorsport experience.
