JOHOR BARU: The Johor state administration will continue to function in a caretaker capacity after the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly on June 1, ensuring day-to-day public services continue while the state prepares for its 16th election.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi confirmed that all essential government services will remain fully operational during the caretaker period. Government officers have been instructed to remain politically neutral and focus on delivering public services to all communities.
The caretaker government will operate at a minimal level to ensure the smooth management of daily affairs while avoiding any controversial decisions that could influence the political climate ahead of polling day.
Emergency services, public health initiatives, and essential infrastructure projects will continue without disruption, according to the state administration. The government emphasized that ongoing maintenance and service delivery obligations to the public will be upheld throughout the caretaker period.
A key responsibility of the caretaker government is to ensure full cooperation with the Election Commission in preparing polling stations and mobilizing election workers for the state polls.
The state government, led by the Barisan Nasional coalition under Umno since 2022, will adhere to Election Commission guidelines during the campaign period, with no new major policy announcements expected.
