China Launches Beach Clean-Up Campaign in Xiamen

Date:

The Chinese government has launched a beach clean-up campaign in Xiamen, aimed at enhancing coastal environmental protection and promoting public awareness regarding marine conservation. The initiative, announced on June 12, 2026, seeks to mobilize local communities, schools, and volunteers to participate in the effort.

As part of this campaign, participants are encouraged to gather at popular beaches to collect litter and debris, actively contributing to restoring natural habitats for marine life. Government officials highlighted the significance of maintaining clean beaches not only for local residents and tourists but also for the overall well-being of marine ecosystems.

The campaign is seen as an opportunity to educate the public about the detrimental effects of pollution, particularly plastic waste, on ocean health. Officials emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and urged citizens to reduce single-use plastics in daily life.

In addition to the beach clean-up activities, information booths will be set up along the coast to provide education on marine biodiversity and guidelines for responsible coastal behavior. Engaging local youth in environmental stewardship is also a key aspect of the campaign, as schools are encouraged to organize field trips and educational programs around the initiative.

This beach clean-up campaign reflects China’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and outlines the government’s efforts to involve citizens in protecting their natural surroundings.
