Google Ramps Up Fight Against AI Scams With Security, Lawsuits, and Legislation

Google has announced a comprehensive new initiative to combat the rising tide of AI-powered scams and dismantle what the company calls the "Outsider Enterprise" — a growing ecosystem of malicious actors using artificial intelligence to defraud consumers at scale.

In a detailed announcement published on June 12, 2026, Google General Counsel Halimah DeLaine Prado outlined the company's multi-pronged strategy to fight scammers on all fronts, combining industry-leading security technology, aggressive legal action, and close collaboration with law enforcement and industry partners.

The initiative comes as AI-generated scams have become increasingly sophisticated, with fraudsters leveraging generative AI tools to create convincing phishing emails, deepfake voice calls, and realistic fake websites that are harder than ever for consumers to distinguish from legitimate communications.

Google's security teams have been developing advanced AI-powered detection systems specifically designed to identify and block AI-generated scam content before it reaches users. These detection systems analyze patterns across Google's ecosystem, including Gmail, Google Search, Google Ads, and YouTube, to identify malicious campaigns in real time.

Beyond technological defenses, Google is taking an aggressive legal stance. The company has filed multiple lawsuits against known scam operators and is working with global law enforcement agencies to track down and prosecute the individuals and organizations behind these operations.
