Skoda Peaq Previewed: Seven-Seat Electric SUV Set for Full Reveal on June 23

Date:

Skoda has offered the first official preview of its upcoming Peaq SUV flagship, a seven-seat electric vehicle set to become the largest, most expensive car the Czech brand has ever produced.

The full reveal is scheduled for 23 June at a dedicated event in south-eastern France, with market launch planned for after summer. New design sketches released by the brand show how the Peaq will adopt Skoda's minimalist Modern Solid design language, first deployed on the smaller Epiq crossover.

At 4.9 metres long, the Peaq is approximately 250mm longer than the Enyaq, Skoda's current EV flagship, and 110mm longer than the combustion-engined Kodiaq, to which it will serve as the electric equivalent - complete with seating for seven.

The SUV rides on an extended version of the Volkswagen Group MEB platform that underpins the smaller Enyaq and Elroq, positioning it against rivals including the Peugeot E-5008, Mercedes-Benz GLB Electric, Kia EV9, Volvo EX90 and Hyundai Ioniq 9.

Design highlights include the distinctive "Tech Deck" grille motif at the front, T-shaped LED light clusters, thick D-pillars and what Skoda calls a "volcano-shaped" front bumper. The finished product is expected to closely resemble the Vision 7S concept that previewed it in 2023.

Exterior design lead Karl Neuhold said: "In designing the exterior of the Skoda Peaq, we consistently applied the Modern Solid design language, combining clean lines, balanced proportions and distinctive elements. Precisely sculpted surfaces and clearly structured details create a confident, timeless presence."

Three powertrain variants are expected at launch. The entry-level "60" version will use a 59kWh battery with a single 201bhp rear motor. The mid-range variant will feature an 86kWh battery with a single 282bhp motor, claiming more than 380 miles of range and up to 195kW charging capability. The range-topping 90X will pair the larger battery with twin motors producing 295bhp.

Pricing in the UK is expected to range between GBP 50,000 and GBP 60,000, significantly undercutting rivals like the Kia EV9, Volvo EX90 and Hyundai Ioniq 9 while remaining in line with higher-spec versions of the combustion Kodiaq.

When asked about the possibility of a performance vRS variant, product bosses said only that "anything is possible," suggesting a hot version could follow the standard lineup.

The Peaq becomes the fourth pure-electric model in Skoda's growing EV family, joining the Enyaq, Elroq and the upcoming Epiq crossover.
