Monterrey, Mexico – Sweden opened their FIFA World Cup 2026™ campaign in emphatic fashion, overwhelming Tunisia 5-1 at Monterrey Stadium in a dazzling Group F display.
Yasin Ayari, Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg were all on target as Sweden ran riot, with Ayari scoring a superb brace in the dominant victory.
The result puts Sweden top of Group F on goal difference after the opening round of matches, with the Netherlands and Japan playing out a 2-2 draw in the other group fixture.
Sweden's attacking quartet proved too much for the Tunisian defence, combining pace, power and precision in front of goal in what was the first World Cup meeting between the two nations.
